John D. Wyndham, 88, of Peterborough, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully at Elliott Hospital in Manchester, NH on September 21, 2025. He was born in Sydney, Australia on August 3, 1937 to John H. Wyndham and Rosalind (Everett) Wyndham. He had an older sister, Auriel. John made a habit of signing his name John D. Wyndham, using his middle initial to distinguish himself from John Wyndham the science fiction writer.
The family moved to England when he was sixteen and John went on to earn a doctorate at Cambridge University in physics which guided a career for many years. During his doctoral studies in the early 1960s John worked under Anthony Hewish at the University of Cambridge’s Mullard Radio Astronomy Observatory. This project was what led to the Nobel Prize winning discovery of pulsars in 1967. John was not directly involved in the 1967 pulsar discovery itself but contributed foundational work to the group’s methods. After his PhD, he became a research fellow in radio astronomy at Caltech.
John was the founding coordinator of Scientists for 9/11 Truth and built the original scientistsfor911truth.com website. He consistently promoted following the scientific method in 9/11 research. He personally maintained a parallel website for open discussion and debate called scientificmethod911.org, where he stated in the description, “Our goal is to follow the scientific method no matter where it leads, and no subject is off limits.” This strong scientific focus came from the conviction that the 9/11 Truth Movement needed to justify its claims with scientific rigor in order to be effective in the long run. In short, he believed that a “Truth” movement should seek to establish the truth.
John lived with his wife Carol in Lincoln, Massachusetts, Acton, MA, and finally in Peterborough, NH, where they happily lived for the past thirty-nine years, raising their two children.
John was an artist and poet. He painted many pictures which hang in their home. He was a musician, playing the accordion, piano, and other instruments. He also loved carpentry and upgraded their home with many projects.
John is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carol (Kellogg) Wyndham, his four sons, one daughter, four grandchildren, and a sister.

John’s self-published book of poetry reveals his idealism and vision for a more egalitarian and loving world, as well as describing his strong spiritual perspective. Here is one short example:

I once was young,
But now am old,
Yet still I am the same.
The outward forms,
May change at will,
The inner forms remain.
The fear of death,
Is disbelief that
God knows what He’s doing.
Yet all the while,
He watches us,
Our upward path pursuing.
